Monitor Your Glucose While You Ride
GlucoRoo turns your Hammerhead Karoo into a CGM companion. Built by cyclists with diabetes for cyclists with diabetes, GlucoRoo gets data from your CGM and displays it on your Karoo. GlucoRoo can also record your readings to a FIT file for analysis

Why GlucoRoo

Monitor your glucose on your bike computer, so you can focus on your ride

A wide choice of customizable data fields to track what you want to see, how you want to see it
Your choice of mg/dL or mmol/L, glucose zone ranges, 3-color mode for simplicity or full color for more nuance, with 3 different graph scales

GlucoRoo is easy to use: A single app that you install on your Karoo and starts automatically when you start your ride

GlucoRoo speaks every language supported on the Karoo: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese

Visual and audio notifications to let you know when your glucose changes, without having to check your phone

Designed for your Hammerhead Karoo. GlucoRoo follows your standard Karoo settings for field alignment, light and dark modes

You can optionally record your glucose to a standard FIT file, along with other ride and sensor data (e.g. cadence, speed, heart rate monitors, power meters, body temperature/sweat sensors, etc.) to analyze your ride

GlucoRoo supports your Continuous Glucose Monitor: GlucoRoo connects directly to Dexcom and Freestyle Libre, and through Nightscout to all major CGM providers
What You Need to Use GlucoRoo
Compatibility
GlucoRoo runs on the Hammerhead Karoo (Karoo 2 and New Karoo / Karoo 3)
Glucoroo supports Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitors (G6 and G7) directly, by connecting through the Dexcom Share API
Glucoroo supports Freestyle Libre Continuous Glucose Monitors (Libre 2 and Libre 3) directly, by connecting through the LibreLinkUp API
Glucoroo also supports Nightscout, including Gluroo, so any Continuous Glucose Monitor that delivers data into Nightscout (or Gluroo) can be monitored using GlucoRoo. This includes:
- Dexcom G4 Platinum (via Share + receiver bridge)
- Dexcom G5 Mobile
- Dexcom G6
- Dexcom G7
- FreeStyle Libre
- FreeStyle Libre 2
- FreeStyle Libre 3
- Medtronic Enlite
- Medtronic Guardian Sensor 3
- Medtronic Guardian Sensor 4
- And any other CGM that integrates with Nightscout (see https://nightscout.github.io/uploader/uploaders/ for details)
GlucoRoo supports Juggluco and xDrip as well, which support multiple CGMs and which allow you to use GlucoRoo anywhere you ride, even outside of cellular coverage
GlucoRoo optionally records to the standard FIT file so applications like intervals.icu can include it in post-ride analysis
Requirements
- GlucoRoo requires a network connection, either using the integrated cellular connection on the Karoo 2 (which requires a SIM card and cellular data service), WiFi, or tethering via Bluetooth to your phone
- If you use Juggluco or xDrip on your phone, you can use GlucoRoo even where there is no cellular coverage, by connecting to Juggluco or xDrip using a wifi hotspot or bluetooth pairing with your phone
- Your Karoo should have the clock set to “automatic” so it will be accurate and in synch with the CGM clock. GlucoRoo compares the time your CGM recorded a glucose reading to the time on the Karoo to determine if data is stale, so it is important that the clock on your Karoo is correct
- Be careful about the number of bluetooth connections on your phone. Some phones can’t manage many bluetooth connections, so if your phone is connected by bluetooth to headphones AND your Karoo, it may not be able to connect to your CGM sensor at the same time
